Kerrang Magazine front cover analysis

The front cover of Kerrang magazine uses a bold font for both its title and the main feature in the magazine this is to entice readers to buy the magazine by using large and eye catching fonts. The main photo of the magazine is partially covering some of the lettering of the title of the magazine, this could be because many people already know what the magazine is called and will be expecting to buy it anyway. The main image also has the caption ‘world exclusive’ above it which would attract a wider audience if the magazine was the only magazine to have this feature article included. The image of the band on the front of the magazine is mostly unobstructed particularly their faces so that it gives a more ‘personal’ feeling. Small captions at the top and bottom of the front cover show some of the smaller features that are in the magazine which may entice a larger audience to buy the magazine because they may be interested in these other features, or bands in the case of Kerrang magazine. There are also three other small pictures that are on the right hand side of the cover, this could because they have larger importance than those of the smaller captioned bands or features, this is backed up by the word ‘exclusive’ above one of these pictures which shows that this magazine may be the only magazine to feature information regarding that subject matter. The second small photo on the right has a caption underneath it which reads ‘Josh’s guide to love and sex’ which may appeal to the target audience especially if the person was popular among the target audience. The third smaller image is of a woman who is sitting and dressed proactively which would entice the male audience, also the caption underneath , ‘valentine’s day poster special’, may attract even more people to buy the magazine simply because it is supposedly a ‘poster special’. The barcode is located in the bottom right hand corner of the image and is small and out of the way, this would include the cost of the magazine therefore since it is out of the way the audience may already know the pricing or are not bothered about the pricing.
