Audience Profile for Rock Sound Magazine
The demographic profile for Rock Sound magazine would be roughly between the ages of 15 to 25 and both males and females would read the magazine. Obviously the majority of the readers would be reading the magazine for either upcoming gig news or gig reviews or the main feature article, another large proportion of the readers would be interested in the album reviews or album news. The class of the reader would most likely be working class however it may also attract a large amount of middle class people as it is a music magazine and has a large audience it could reach. This means that the type of houses the readers would live in may also be varied i.e. the working class would be living in a flat or a rented house whereas the middle class would be living in owned medium sized houses. The region in which the readers of the magazine would live would be varied as the magazine would ship too many different places and several different countries including the UK and the US.
The overall theme of the front cover goes against the culturally dominant ideology, almost attacking it with the phrase "we predict a riot". This is common of rock magazines as the bands themselves are part of a subculture and therefore attract particular subcultures to their music (i.e. punks being attracted to bands such as the Misfits and Sex Pistols)
The psychographic profile for Rock Sound magazine would be individuals as it is very unlikely that they could classed as ‘mainstreamers’ particularly for their style of clothes and music which is different from that of the mainstream i.e. different forms of rock music is different from chart music. The readers of Rock Sound magazine holiday destinations would most likely include a place that suits their age, for example Las Vegas because it has a number of things, such as theme park rides, that would attract young people to the destination. The jobs that the demographic of Rock Sound magazine would be taking or working in would include mostly semi-skilled part time jobs; this is because a majority of the readers would still be in education, however a small minority would have skilled full time jobs. The food that this demographic would eat is relative to the food that is available to everyone such as take-away or food from a super market, however in relation to restaurants they would most likely eat at is different from other demographics and classes, this is because they would eat at a restaurant that would suit their style i.e. The Hard Rock cafĂ©.
